Shape

Shape is one of the basic elements of visual art. You may think of it as the building block of any drawing. When lines meet each other, shapes are formed or in other words closed lines form shapes. For example, we join lines to make shapes like triangle, rectangle hexagon or even 3 dimensional shapes like cubes and cones.

Shapes are classified as

Geometric shapes: Mathematical shapes that usually have uniform measurements and angles.

Organic shapes: Shapes found in nature like shape of a flower, a water puddle etc.

Whenever you think of drawing an object, thing of it as simple shapes joined together! When you want to draw a picture of something it is important that we break it down into simple shapes and lines and then fine tune the drawing to get your perfect picture. For example,Look at the drawing of Pear below, all you need is to draw 2 circles- a small circle on the top and a bigger circle attached below the small circle!20200411_131510Shape Lesson Exercises
